Theme song alternate Lyrics

The alternate lyrics we sang to the theme (*mostly* as kids):

Hercules, is the biggest phoney
Hercules, made of cheese and baloney
Fighting with his wife
With the stregnth of ten
Plastic army men

Yeah, the original Lyrics to the song were sung by the great Johnny Nash, who sounds just like Johnny Mathis to a extent.
The animated version of "The Mighty Hercules" was released theatrical as an short before the feature films in 1963,and from there made its way toward Saturday Mornings for the rest of the decade until the late 1970's.

Johnny Nash went on to sing one of the biggest recordings of the 1970's
You know the lyrics and the music when you hear it....

"I can see clearly now,the rain is gone
All of the obstacles are out of my way
All of the dark clouds have passed me by
It's going to be a bright, bright sunshiny day"

I remember I used to think it was hilarious to sing "virtue in his heart, fire in every *fart* of the Mighty Hercules" instead of "fire in every part".

Odd...one of my friends said he used to say "Hercules...made of string and baloney". Great minds think alike?

I liked the 'with the strength of ten, ordinary men part'. Although nobody ever had the bright idea to get eleven guys together and beat the crap out of him.

"Softness in his eyes, iron in his thighs" . . . A bit risque, there? ;-)

Does anybody know if the music theme here is sung by Johnny Nash and if it is the one that was heard on the television show? Thanks.

reply

YES

"Gentlemen, This is a War Room, There's no fighting allowed in Here!"

reply

Hercules, winner of fame and glory,
Hercules, famous in song and story,
Fire in his eyes, dead meat between his thighs,
With the strength of ten, paraplegic hens,
That's the mighty, Hercules.

As kids this always made us laugh. How sophisticated we were back then!
