Perilous Journey 2014

So these rich white jerks spend $500,000 and several years in order to adopt babies in Africa??

There aren't enough American babies they can adopt?

I can see why locals will react badly to these folks, and especially their attitudes of outrage over not getting the babies ASAP.

I agree that if these 'white folks' want a black baby that rather than Africa they should be trying to adopt here in the USA. The amount that it costs to adopt such kids overseas (or even in eastern Europe) is to me ridiculous, but, again, I have no kids and never felt the need for one, so I can't judge the emotions that precipitate this.

I can think of three reasons that they might go to Africa (or overseas anywhere):

1) They don't want some biological parent or relative trying to claim the child at a later date (much less likely if those relatives are 10,000 miles away and dirt poor); or
2) There are a lot of black organizations that decry black children being adopted by white people, and try to make a big stink of it; the parents wouldn't want to go thru that; or
3) They want a baby and not a young or older child, the latter of which accounts for many of the children of any color being unadopted and trapped in the foster system.
