yeah true, but Earl has as much to learn as Hank does. Hank was using a choke hold and was wrongly presumtive of Earl braking into the car, when in fact it was really his own. Earl out and out lied about the events. So, sending a guy to jail on false charges makes up for all the wrongful arrests and police brutality? Yeah, Hank has to learn to see the grey area and see what it's like for the other side, but Earl has to learn somethings too, like don't cry wolf out of spite when in fact all you have is a fiesty pup. And the fact that he himself has some reverse racism and double standards: the whole white-black dating rule bs. But Earl does face some retribution, Hank's girlfriend apparently kicks the *beep* out of him when she learns the truth. It really means nothing that she happens to be black, the rebuke from anyone should be enough to wake Earl up. However, the fact that she is black and she still rebukes Earl certainly sticks in Earl's mind to make some changes. I mean, this movie is not there to cure social problems, but it's a interesting little side point. Not a great movie, but it does illustrate an interesting point: even authority figures have to exercise restraint and collectiveness and that even a person who faces prejudice can themselves have prejudices that are troubling.
