This might be a stupid question since the ship in the movie is obvioustly either a model or computer generated. Doesn't the ship look a lot like the first Queen Elisabeth? I think The Queen Elisabeth was the inspiration for the ship in this movie.
The ship is certainly a beautiful representative of ocean liners from the 30's and 40's.
It is, of course the Queen Mary but it was not the same model used in Poseidon Adventure because if you remember, in the movie when the model was upside down, they exploded most of it. They did not take the Queen Mary out to sea though. She no longer has any engines and is no longer safe for the open ocean.
The Queen Mary is a quite popular ship as a movie set. She was also used in SOS Titanic, as you might know. Deck scenes and some interior scenes were shot on the Queen Mary. She is of course one of the most famous of the old ocean liners.
I do not think a model was used in The Triangle. I think what we see is an image superimposed onto the film.
In The Triangle, in the scene where the two survivers are in the raft and the Queen of Scots is coming after them, there are close-ups of the bow very close to the water line. To me they look real, it could have been almost any ship with a black hull.
I know this is a late update, but the clue is in the name.
Mary, was Queen of Scots before she was executed under Elizabeth I. Do I take it that the 'evil' ness was made by making the ship pretty much black and white?
