'In a club?'

From the plot outline...

"Thirteen Smiths' recordings, half of them in a club with a live audience. These alternate with five rock videos, two directed by Derek Jarman (Panic and Ask), two by Tim Broad etc etc....

This wasn't a "club" These clips are performances from the BBC archives of Top of The Pops - a TV show.

The TV show graphics (usually the song title, artist and number in the chart that week)are concealed at the start of each song by the "new" song title graphic (designed for the VHS/DVD) with the audio from each performance starting/playing underneath. The director of the VHS only cuts to the performances once the original TV shows graphics stop.

I hate this! They could have used concert footage instead of TOTP footage!

True. I got a great LIVE recording of "Barbarism Begins At Home" , that is quite possibly the best LIVE Smiths recording I have ever seen. Too bad I dont know what the date of the show is though.
