I didn't fully understand the ending...

At the end when they were all sitting around the table eating...then Michael comes and starts talking about how the pirates' boat now belongs to them and they're going to be partners in the charter business...I got that...right up until when Michael says he wants to take his dads filing job offer(which I did see coming)...but so Michael, Jake, and Tommy are supposed to be partners in owning that charter...while Michael and Tommy are in different states in the states and Jake is in Australia? I guess it just didn't really make sense...

You keep a stun gun in the birdhouse? Whats under the garden gnome, an M80?

Well Michael had money so he bought it off of the police. They don't have to necessarily both be there to own a business. Michael is kinda like a silent partner. I'm not sure what Tommy was going to do, probably finish school and everything but that's what I took it as.

OP seems like he understood it just fine. There was a reward for turning in those pirates. Michael negotiated that they own the boat now. Jake's got a nice new boat to charter for people.
