why was it rated an 18?

i was 15 at the time this game was released(but i still managed to buy it)but seriously, there was nothing in this game which made it only suitable for adults.in fact, this game would be suitable for a 12 year old.there wasnt too much violence,or any strong language at all.

I once punched a guy out for saying that "Hawk the Slayer" was rubbish

There is no sexual references and the language is very mild. But there is a lot of blood when you kill realistic looking people. You can alsp kill these realistic looking people in very large numbers and you could "mutilate" the bodies by repeatingly shooting them or sticking combat knifes into them. That is the main reason that Perfect Dark received a "Mature" rating (or 18 in your case).

^ Yes, but Goldeneye was rated T and it had the same ammount of blood and gore as PD did.

reply

^Umm...you should probably play Goldeneye again there. The only blood that shows up in Goldeneye is faint marks on guard uniforms. The difference between the two is like night and day.

reply

Are you kidding me? The only difference is that blood can get on the floors and walls.

M2K0 you can snap people's heads back with cranium shots, big puddles of blood form around bodies, blood smears across the walls, carcasses mount up and you can "mutilate" bodies following death.

They say a good amount of swears in the game. I've heard bitch the most. Also, the gore and blood level is pretty high and is nowhere as low as Goldeneye was. You can get the blood all over the people is various places where you can shoot them (or stick knives in them). Also, it gets everywhere depending on the angle you shoot at someone. Sound effects also follow the shootings, such as gross noises when you shoot a dead body. Lastly, you can blow up enemy bodies and they come out to look like a burnt up carcass. PD definitely earns it's M Rating.

For its time, Perfect Dark was considered pretty violent, esp. for a N64 game. (blood stains on characters, blood stains on walls/floors, some cursing, 'body mutilation' and the like.)

At the time, PD was one of the most violent games...for a game made ten years ago it still contains a high amount of violence compared to today's games.
