How did they pull this off?

How did the makers of this film end up with Trevor Goddard and Muse Watson in their movie? This film appears ultra low budget and both Goddard and Watson had big hits under their belt when filming this. Does anybody know what favors were called in to make this happen?! Wow. I'm impressed it happened.
