Question about about a part of the ending

I watched this a long time ago and well I randomly suggested it to a friend of mine that was asking for a movie suggestion, later after he'd apparently watched it, he asked me ;

"Why did Lord Fulcan's right hand Man-Dog thing attack and kill him at the end?"

And after Laughing my but off about his proclamation of "right hand Man-Dog thing" I went to answer him and realized . . . I had absolutely no idea, I don't really remember why and I can't go dig my copy up(it's in storage somewhere) so . . . any help?

Pretty sure the guy said something about that right before he killed Folken. Something about him being responsible for the suffering of his people, and him getting revenge.
