Underrated

This is such a beautiful film, and there's no conversation about it!Well, in case someone does stumble upon this-were you satisfied with the ending?

Altough it was bittersweet I liked it.It fits the rest of the film.

A little madness in the spring is wholesome even for a king

I like this movie, however, the ending did leave me hanging. I know how In's life ended but what abour Soeun?

reply

Soeun ends up being a college professor...well the Soeun that never came in contact with In,but I think it's safe to assume that after she stops talking to In the same events happen as before and she still becomes a teacher.

I saw this movie twice, once on the plane to Korea, and once leaving. After the first time, I thought this film was really amazing and moving. Then, after spending two weeks watching Korean soap operas, I got back on the plane and watched the film again. Ugh- I realized it was actually just typical Korean melodrama. Weird.

I want to add some quotes from this film. How can I do that??

i really liked this movie....but the thing i hate about it is that the lead character(so-eun)ended up a sore loser(no pun intended)and basically became lonely the rest of her life....the only compensation the director gave the lead character was to show at the end that she was happy afterall as a professor but still had to live her life alone....

reply

She doesn't seem happy to me at the end !

She tries a timid smile to let Ji-in know she recognized him, but otherwise she looks rather dull and sad.

reply

She didn't seem happy to me either. In fact throughout the whole movie she came off a little pathetic imo.
She becomes obsessed with a classmate who seems to politely respond to her obvious crush on him. Eventually they go out on a few dates, but she seems to be in full on romance mode while he is just not that into her. When she realizes that he is actually going to fall in love with her friend (why did she keep mentioning how pretty her friend was anyway?) she understandably gets sad and becomes distant. What I have a hard time understanding is why she still hasn't gotten over it 20 YEARS LATER!!! What if they did end up together and it turned out that they really can't stand each other after the first year or two. 20 years seems like a long time to hold out for a unrequited crush. Obsess much?

I hate to rain on the parade. I know a lot of people were touched by this film. Maybe if they were more seriously involved I would have felt a little differently. In the end it seemed like much ado about nothing. Even Romeo and Juliet had sex -the obsession was mutual in their case. She was much to pretty, and apparently smart, for me to believe she never found love after that. that sucks.

"WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW, huh?! WHO'S ON TOP & WHO'S ON BOTTOM NOW!"

reply

I think the ending was meant to emphasize So-Eun's sacrifice for the well-being of In. And maybe the reason she never got married was because she never had the same feelings for anyone else. Her relationship with Dong-hee was special, and was never equalled by others that she met afterwards.

Sounds like she has some standards. God forbid!

reply

We also don't know what transpired in those 20 years. Maybe she did date and fell in love many times, but never got married... or perhaps she's like a 40-year-old virgin

I thought In's hair colour made him look older and that he'd end up with So-Eun! Hahaha. THAT would be a trip!

Do The Mussolini! Headkick!

If you look closely at the pictures in the cabin. There was a picture of the three of them together so to me she excepted her faith and moved on.

This movie was underrated. It had great actors and actresses in it.

The actor who played In Ji was Ji-tae Yu was also in Old Boy,the actress who played So-Eun is Kim Ha-Neul,who appeared in Too Beautiful To Die and finally there is Ha Ji Won,In Ji's boyfriend, who appeared in Sex Is Zero and 100 Days With Mr Arrogant.
