The end

I am a little confused about the end of this "movie". When Tess in is the swing and dad is trying to console her after the dance, he puts his hand on her shoulder. I couldn't tell if he was fighting the urge to touch her again or he just wanted a hug, like he did earlier in the kitchen. What do you think?

In my opinion, the latter; he just wanted to be a father again. I didn't sense anything sexual, although I did sense the non-trust that the daughter had - and rightly so.

I think that's up to us to decide. Each of us. The Lifetime nature of this movie pretty much dictates we'll never get the writers' or director's POV.

I think it's a delicate balance and the father realized that the touch easily could have gone downward. Just how it is. Which is why after Tess called for her mother, he almost immediately made the decision to leave permanently.
