Like the poor excuse for the mother said, there's no telling how many times the bastard would have raped his daughter if he never got caught. Sure he's remorseful, BECAUSE HE WAS CAUGHT!

While it does sometimes take another person to have you see another side of things, such as how wrong you were/are, yeah, he's only apologizing and humble because he was caught.
