BRING BACK THE MOLE -- SUGGESTIONS + IMPROVEMENTS
Considering that our favorite reality show is probably on the bubble and may not return next year because ABC programmers love *stupid* shows, what can we as fans suggest to improve The Mole and at least give it another chance on TV? Maybe they'll see our posts and think about it.
My own thoughts on this year's Mole are -- 1.)When the writer's strike hit, ABC, like the other nets, pushed the button to rush fill-in programming, namely reality shows. 2.)Since The Mole is probably a property ABC directly owns, or owns the rights to in the US, it was on the list of fill-ins and was given the green light for production. 3.)This would explain the quality issues we all noticed with this year's run; the producers had to throw a product together ASAP and had to go with what they got.
My suggestions for next year's Mole -- if there is a next year -- 1.)Ramp up the prize money, make it a potential maximum million dollars. 2.)Make The Mole a real devious a*hole who's capable of anything and everything, make them truly heartless. 3.)Get the fans involved online on The Mole Web site, have people sign up and take sides with their favorite players, even those who *want* to take a side with The Mole. There should be an online fan winner too, with a prize, but nowhere as big as the show winner. They should say up front during the run of the show what The Mole gets, just to make people squirm. 4.)Ramp up the missions, make them edgier or more challenging. 5.)Bring back The Mole to the US and put them in Alaska for a month, some place really interesting and horrible that viewers can get into. 6.)Save the reveal of the winner and The Mole for the very, very end of the last episode, like the last five minutes -- draw out the suspense as much as possible. The way it was done this year was a buzzkill. If people want to see player interviews and other stuff, they can watch it online.
Those are my ideas. I'm not saying they're the best, but it's a start. And if anybody at ABC or the producers of The Mole like them, you know where to reach me.
