Asking the obvious question...

Why did they kill Anthony?

"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."

To make room for the new bad boy in England.

When I was a child I thought it was so sad that Anthony died... That way he couldn't marry Candy and she missed him so much! Candy was always daydreaming about him.

Now that I'm an adult I think the script-writers killed Anthony because they didn't want to tell us that... Anthony was gay.

Think about it: that obsession with his dead mother, that love of roses... Anthony was definitely GAY (not that there is something wrong with that).

So imagine Candy's disappointment as an adult, he could have not married her after all. It couldn't happen. Besides, this was a programme aimed at children. So instead of explaining the situation and introducing a new character, Anthony's male lover, they just killed him.

Sad but true.

Hahahaha not at all! Have you ever read the manga?
This animation was for teen girls in Japan, but what happened in other countries, like mine, it's a whole generation of 4 years old little girls growing up with all this drama.
Candy Candy is full of drama and tears, she's a survival.

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language.
