Too much editing in the Hallmark version

I love catching this movie about a dozen times during Christmas time, but I'm not digging all the edits when it's shown on the Hallmark channel. Changing some of the language I get, but that takes away from the humor (like the skinny bitch part with Kathy Griffin). VH1 should air it instead. It's much better there.

I noticed the editing also. They even edited out words like hell, I don't think that's such a horrible word. I still enjoyed watching it though, I love most versions of A Christmas Carol.

Me neither, taking out the word "b*tch" I could understand.

Me too! I have to watch this every year, I need it on dvd. I'll watch anything if it has a Scrooge slant to it. I also like to see how they redo it. Some I've enjoyed are:

A Diva's Christmas Carol (of course)
Scrooged
Ms. Scrooge

Most cartoon/Muppet versions though I haven't seen them in years (any kind of Christmas cartoon really)

I also enjoy most versions that follow the story pretty closely (you know, middle aged male) and there is one in particular that I enjoy but cannot remember which version it is, it was at least the 70s, maybe even the 90s in color, traditional story. We watched it in school and/or I saw it on tv but it was overwhelming the last time I tried to find it, there are so many.

That's all I can think of in particular.

Bruno Mars Debut Album...Doo Wops and Hooligans...Oct 5...can't wait!

I also watched this movie on Hallmark and I hated the edits. The Hallmark Channel is a channel that has to have everything to be family friendly. A Diva's Christmas Carol is bit too gritty in some aspects for the Hallmark Channel. At least VH1 made a very good Christmas movie. Most of the Christmas movies made by the Hallmark Channel are pretty awful.

Lifetime and LMN also aired A Diva's Christmas Carol a couple of years back and nothing was edited.

to all you guys. Can't wait to watch it again soon!

Its funny because I was watching this movie on Lifetime this afternoon and had just read a letter in TV Guide. A woman was complaining about too many bad words on tv show (forget which one) she complained of words like damn, hell, @ss and b!tch being said more than 4 times!
I LOLed at this because i don't really consider damn and hell that bad words and they been uncensored for as long as I been watching TV but @ss and b!tch are more recently being used more. @ss was usaully in the word jackass. you cant even type the words online without being censored or breaking some TOS rule.

So right after reading that letter I hear the first word in the movie kinda fluffed over forget it was @ss or b!tch but hell and damn were used more frequently.

I guess the letter writer should stick to Hallmark channel since they do some heavy editing.

I just saw it Lifetime Movie Channel a couple days ago and I think they're playing the VH1 version since lines like "skinny bitch" and stuff were left in. No edits I could see.

God bless the unedited DVD :) I bought this a couple years ago and revisit it every Christmastime. Vanessa Williams was great in this.

I'm revisiting this thread again lol. I watched this movie on Lifetime a few days back and again nothing was edited. I have been checking the Hallmark Channel here and there to see if this movie will be aired on and it seems that Hallmark isn't airing this movie anymore and I'm glad. Their edits of this movie were ridiculous. A Diva's Christmas Carol is far better than the Christmas movies Hallmark Channel makes.

I wish VH1 would air this movie for ol time sake, but they probably never will. I ordered the DVD earlier this morning to have in the future, because I think Lifetime or LMN will likely stop airing this movie in the next few years.

i remember as this came out it was airing on a channel that air the latest mainstream movies, i find it strange now how a vh-1 tv movie got such big attention, costumed vhs releases for different countries, big promotions for it on movie channels, anyway i remember i really liked it, i didn't get some of it back then but re watching it now realising how neat to give her the name "ebony", the scene where she was confronting the french guy and she had the rude bit blew my mind, what miscast i was actually on scrooges side. vanessa l williams pretty much needed to be in every shot to keep one hooked as many around her lacked screen presence. this was yet another version where scrooge shows a conscience too early, i'm used to the jack palance version where he stays a hardcase for most of the movie, no other scrooge has filled out a dress like this though, but this scrooge didn't quite work for me, often i thought the people around got what they deserved and her attitude didn't get to me, perhaps its like i remember a line from a jay leno joke "women can treat men like crap" and this appeals better to a female audience, but its funny and an enjoyable watch. the scene cuts makes it very apparent its a tv movie.

tricked me again,
without a clue as our paths crossed in future day,
forgot the ugly way you once treated me,
fell down the same pit,
as twice this woman fooled me,
didn't pay heed to the old saying,
fool me once, shame on.. shame on you.. fool me... you cant get fooled again.
