We'll see how close Waiting... (2005) is to this film...

... it'll be interesting, to say the least! I quite liked this "original" (see my review, which hopefully will be posted here soon, dating from March 29, 2001 publication in my Video Views column in the Brattleboro Reformer and other New England newspapers), and I understand completely the reaction others have had to seeing the trailer for the new WAITING... on the big screen. The writer/director of WAITING... has already weighed in, on the defensive (see the WAITING... board, the thread entitled RIPOFF: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348333/board/thread/25188705?d=25191723#25191723).

For the record, WAITING producer John Stefanic completed his own documentary after this, American Hot Rod: The Unauthorized Power Tour Documentary (see http://www.americanhotrod.tv), and Will Keenan has starred in a plethora of films since. Will is a wildman and a real screen presence, and continues to be a volatile force in NYC and Los Angeles-based independent film and video. He cofounded Go-Kart Films in 2004, nurturing wide distribution (via a lucrative deal with Koch) for his own projects and those of many other filmmakers; for more information, go to http://www.gokartfilms.com

I read your message when you posted it, including the link you provided.

I had the unfortunate and painful opportunity of watching the 2005 film, and obviously didn't like it. I never post negative commentary about films, so I will refrain from detailing why I disliked the 2005 film.

I will only say - I've been there, I've done that, and Hasson is the man. He deserves the chance to make another full-length feature film.

Except for the names, I found some other likenesses with the scenes I've seen from this waiting and 2005 Waiting. Overall, I find it kinda sad that the only original film of 2005 was mostly a ripp off of this film and Clerks.

But that's Hollywod for ya.
