Finally, A Masculine Man who is Gay

I am blown away by the portrayal of the character Jimbo in this movie! Incredible. Finally, a gay character who is a real man. He is not a flamer at all. No sissy acting, limp-wristed, hair-styling, Streisand-loving 'mo'. Nope not at all. Jimbo is a real man. Masculine. Tough. Throws a punch. Shoots a gun. And is still proud enough, and man enough, to admit he is homosexual. Like it is no big deal (except that he is having trouble finding another man to date). Amazing! I guess that the only thing I would have changed is that instead of him going out with a murderous ex-con at the end of the film, maybe there could have been a new beefy masculine welder who competes in rodeos on the side, who moves to town and they meet, go out, have some beers, share some chew, play some cards, and fall in love and live happily ever after.
I hope Hollywood (and America)pays close attention to this character and will include more regular guys who happen to be gay in films in the future.

I know! Matt Davis is sooooo hot. And thank god he isn't gay in RL (though no offence to any homosexuals out there, you guys rock!) because I'd love to date him!
See him in Blue Crush.

Uh, probibly because Killer wasn't gay to begin with? Killer didn't fuss like a little girl as much as Tinker did.
Maybe he was just being nice and gave Tinker a date, that's how I see it. :)

Yeah... god I love Matthew Davis - ever since 'Tigerland.'

I haven't watched this movie in ages and just popped it in, but looked it up here while I'm watching. I agree with this, I actualy known a few gay friends that you would never known they where gay on every day meetings of them.

I also agree with you that its great to find a character like this and I'd like to add one more reason:

It's not just the character that's great, and it is a great character...its the fact that the movie treated he's being gay on an eqal level with everything else. Sure there were a few jokes here and there, but the movie joked about everything. Jimbo being gay is just treated as a fact of life in the movie, much like the fact the character wear cowboy hats and drink beer.

And as for the date at the end...I don't think we're meant to assume that the two ended up spending the rest of their lives together. Jimbo was gay, and had trouble finding a man to date...now he's just passed one more milestone in his life by having a first date with a man. I'm sure...as somebody else mentioned...he'll eventually find a similarly minded attractive man to enjoy beer and cars with.

LMAO. That was a detailed analysis of a situation that wasn't supposed to be analyzed. The whole movie was funny, and having a homo in it was just another aspect of humor. Aslo, it wasn't portraying homosexuality as a fact of life. Homo's are crazy and need to wake up to the blatently apparent fact that no matter how you cut it, GIRLS ARE SEXY!
