What this movie is.

If you (god forbid) own the DVD or more hopefully have downloaded the movie from the internet, simply index in exactly 3min14sec into the title track and you'll see the most apt description for this movie summed up in one word.

Haha, good one.
I'm a big fan of the sci-fi genre but this is maybe the worst I've ever seen. It assumes you feel for the characters when they have never been introduced properly. It is like you are watching an episode of a series somewhere in the middle of a season. This movie was really cheap, but I still feel robbed. I saw here they are planning on making a series out of this, what the... I really don't get those people.

The movie should be viewed as a pilot for a series, about to be remade as a 5 year series.
The acting isn't Hollywood standard because it wasn't made on a Hollywood budget or with an a-list cast. And it was a European co-production so some acting may have been a bit less than perfect but, hey, every film has at least one poor character.
The idea of the film was original and the effects were good.
It was never meant to be perfect, just complimentary.
Ice Planet will be remade this year and there is already posts at Ice Planet (2006)

I only found out about the pilot story here on IMDB after watching it. I don't think the 'movie' was that original and think the effects looked a bit too much computer generated. The low budget explains all this but I spent money on something that was sold as a movie. If I watched it on tv I probably wouldn't have been half as disappointed, I'm sure the series will be more satisfying and hope it will be broadcasted here in the Netherlands (but I doubt it. The BBC used to broadcast a lot of good sf but now they have more channels that we can't get).

hhmmm funny you mention a "low" budget and Ice Planet, as sci-Fi UK who looked to be suppling a great deal of cash for the (2006) series to be made have pulled out of the production!!

... and to add Ironside is known to drop ideas much faster than he picks them up ....... the sci fi forum (UK) has an announcement on one of it's pages about the withdrawal.
Seems there was some "issues" with the Canadian side of the setup, it's almost like the pain this pilot went through...loss of budget... issues with writers and casting! ! !
We'll have to wait an see

November 17th filming starts on the "new" Ice Planet series.

Funding was obtained very soon after Sci-FiUK announced it's exclusion form this venture.
There is to be a mobile game and the X-Box 360 has been confirmed as (at least) one platform the interactive game will be played on!

The fan site, [The one I'm attached to www.ice-planet.tv :-)] has more detail than I can post here and the news section covers the whole development of this venture, it's practically a blow by blow log of all that has happened and is about to happen!!

Oh! for thoughs that like that sort of thing, we have been sent and have on display for all to see, pictures of the set being built!!
Take a look at the concept art as well, then after all said and done, note the "new" show has a well developed story far in advance of this pilot.
