What a totally horrible movie this is! It is just a covey of girls swooning, cooing, and making high-pitched sounds to celebrate their social triumphs. V. Fox's tattoo is totally ugly. She should not be allowed to wear bare arms with that ugly thing.

reply

I thought this movie was pretty bad. I liked the characters, but the plot was pretty mundane.

Life is a sexually transmitted disease.

reply

the only reason why anyone wouldn't like it is cuz they've probably never had a relationship with anyone else other than their mother...

if you hated this movie...then u don't understand what it's like 2 stress out over a rumor or misundertanding between a man and a woman...

JUST SAYING,,,DONT TAKE IT PERSONALLY

reply

This movie only emphasized how clever and intelligent some black women are---we didn't need this movie to try and "make" us look good. Who are you, really, to say that a certain race of people should be banned from making movies? Ugh. It's your racist bigotry that makes me glad we've got EXCELLENT African-American actors who are kicking ass and taking names in the movie industry. I honestly didn't even wanna respond to you, but it needed to be said. Now, go on and continue basking in your ignorance, ya racist bastard. Yeah, I said it.

PS- the movie wasn't ONLY about black women.

reply

[deleted]

The movies that you call "childish and dumb" happen to be movies that most black people can relate too - and it's not because we're childish OR dumb. Movies like that are funny. Entertaining. Movies are entertainment, am I right? There ya go. Just because YOU don't like black movies doesn't mean black people shouldn't be allowed to make them. That is just such a close-minded statement to make, I swear. And it is NOT ridiculous to have black people portrayed as rich and successful in movies because there ARE black people who succeed in life. It's been done. Yes, that's right, we have managed to get to the top in the white man's society even though there's a lot of discouragement and critism along the way.

PS- It's just a movie. Blacks will continue to make movies despite what you may say or think. I mean...come on now...like we give a damn.

reply

starzi314, i commend you on your patience and eloquence in responding to that statement. it was more than closed-minded, it was hateful and ignorant. that person must be living in Goatass, Nebraska, if they've never seen a successful black person.

reply

Most movies made by black people suck, just face it. I mean, are you really going to tell me "Booty Calls" and "White Chicks" are good movies? Pfffft. Thats what I think and Im not gonna stop sharing my opinions with you on here. And theres nothing you can do about it. Unless of course you call your homies and you take me down with a drive by.

reply

Let's not talk about movies made by whites that suck. Let's see, there's Hostage, which was just bad, Vanilla Sky, which made me want to shoot myself in the head, The Grudge (which was a "white" movie, despite the fact that it was originally Japanese) and countless others. It doesn't really matter what race the cast is...sometimes a movie just sucks. There have been lots of good black movies like, Boyz N da Hood, Coming to America, Lean on Me, Etc, Etc.

reply

Yeah, and there have been a lot of good movies made by whites like...erm...pretty much every movie in the top 250 list.

reply

Since you love your Top 250 list so much, here are some titles from it:

Godfather - starring mainly Italians
Cidade de Deus - from Brazil
Crash - mainly a "black" movie as you call it
Ray - another "black" movie

The point is that any race can make a bad movie and any race can make a good movie. If your not seeing movies simply based on the skin color of the actors, you're missing out on a lot of good movies. Also, the top 250 list shows some very common movies that everyone's seen, which is why they are rated so high. There have been plenty of "black" movies that give great social commentary, like "Boyz N da Hood" and there are also comedies like "Coming to America," which is still one of my favorite movies. If you want to go ahead with your idiocy, be my guest. My point has been made, and I no longer have any use for you.

reply

Hahahahahahahahaha....

You really think I was trying to say only white people can make good movies? Cidade De Deus is one of my favourite movies and I like movies from all parts of the world. Im a big fan of asian cinema. That wasn´t my point at all, I even mentioned above that there were a few good black directors. My point was that most movies made by blacks are childish.

PS. Ray was written and directed by Taylor Hackford, who is white. And Paul Haggis the writer/director of Crash also happens to be white. Coppola is white aswell. Dumbass.

reply

Yeah hate to tell you, but the only dumbass around here is you. I never said that you think only whites can make good movies - I used that as an examples because it was the most obvious contrast in our society. If you really think movies made by blacks are childish then you need to open your eyes and take a good look around. Race does not define a good movie, just like it doesn't define anything else. Some of your beloved Asian cinema might be crap to someone else, and not because of the nationality or race of the director. You need to be schooled on the ways of the world before you come on this board talking sh*t. You're one of those types who complain about "black movies" like this one, but I bet you were first in line to see "Without a Paddle." All you want to do it complain about something so you've decided somewhere in your little head that any "black movie" is automatically crap. What about movies like "Do the Right Thing?" You need to take your narrow minded views about blacks across 110th street and see how far you get.

BTW, I am well aware that Ray was written/directed by a white person - still doesn't change the fact that it's about a black musician. Paul Higgins may be white, as well as Coppola, but his movies are black movies since the cast is mostly black, when we go by your definition of "black movies." You said that movies by blacks are childish, you didn't say that movies directed by blacks are childish. "Movies made by blacks" will have to have a black cast, now won't they? What about all the blaxploiation films - black movies directed by whites? Moron.

If you want to come back with some more ignorance, at least try to disguise it as intelligence so I can have fun destroying all your stereotypes. Until you can come back with an intelligent retort, your opinion is the equivalent of sh*t on my shoe, since talking to you feels like stepping in a big, heaping pile anyway.

reply

[deleted]

Hey, we're just using your statements as the basis of this argument. No the cast the of "The Godfather" was not black, but they were minorities. I was referring the movie "Crash" but, as usual, intelligence is not really your thing.

Ah, but it is good to know that you had a decent argument for me. Why don't you just slink back into your corner since you have nothing interesting to say.

reply

You know what? you need to get a life!!! There are so many movies out there that sucked big time at the box office and on dvd, and they had all white casts or the main characters were white!!!!! If you don't know, then you really need to do a lot of research. I can't believe how ignorant and stupid you really are!!! You need to get some get right, and you need to stop the racism and negative stereotypes!!! Let it go.

reply

Bah I´ve had enough of this, I was just messing with you cause I thought it was funny. But its getting tired now so goodbye and have a nice life.

reply

You knew that what you wrote was going to cause controversy, so you should not play around like that. How would like it if people had done that to you? Racist remarks and issues are not things to joke around with, so you need a life.

Thank you ta042004! NoeMan is pretty much a troll just trying to start trouble.

I had to force myself to sit through this. It was god-awful. The script was so terrible. Anthony Anderson was unbelievably annoying. Man, I hated it.

reply

Why would you force yourself to sit through a movie that you don't like, when you could have just gotten up and left? Or if you rented the dvd, then you could have just taken it back to the store?

reply

The movie was ok,
