Definitely one of my top three picks for catherine cookson adaptions

The Girl, Tilly Trotter, and A Dinner Of Herbs are my top three choices for Catherine Cookson tv adaptions. Color Blind also is one I would watch again and again. I didn't care for The Cinder Path because it was too boring and slow moving.

I too have become a big fan of these Catherine Cookson DVDs. I have plowing through them through Netflix and like and really like them all. Sometimes I wish they had done them with English subtitles, as the accents can be hard to understand at times.
Just finished Dinner of Herbs and thoroughly enjoyed it. Liked the commnts of others as to the fact that it would have been better had they aged the original principals. Only 25 years not that hard to pull off.
My one complaint about the many titles I have watched is that they all end abruptly.
If not for this extensive series, I would be bored stiff with the lack of regular movies of quality. Still have about four remaining, then heaven help me!

I was dissapointed too they didn't age the originial characters. I never heard of Catherine Cookson until just recently when I found a clip of The Moth on Youtube which led me to all her other work. I really enjoy her stories. I still have a few left I haven't seen. What are your favorites?

Tide of Life, Tilly Trotter, The Dwelling Place and The Glass Virign were the ones that I rated higher than others on Netflix. That is where I found out about all of these BBC anthologies. Still have a few that I have not seen yet, othese have saved me since the majority pf films currently on the scene are not appealing, in my estimation. I have seen many, many movies and just have a hard time finding good ones to watch. Through my membership have come upon many lesser known but good ones, but they are running low.
My one complaint about the adaptation of most of them is that the scripts are very detailed in the beginning. And as they get to the end they suddenly wrap the story up leaving me feeling like it was too soon. Maybe that is how the original novels were written, having not read any I do not know.

I haven't read any of her books either. I wonder how they compare to her films.

I have read a couple of her books. I enjoyed them and think they are better than the films.
