The trick was shown on "Magic's biggest secret's finally revealed 5". This was REALLY how it was done...

1) the life signs shown were of an assistant, not his

2) when the ice is modifed daily, the macigian and a stunt double switch places. Due to an obscured view, you cannot see the switch. Indeed thre is a trapped door

3) the stunt double and the magician switch places daily, so there is real skill need (standing for 24 straight hours in roughly 50 degree temp.)

4) the trick does last 7 days, but he magician only works 4 of those over the week's time.
