This is an excellent movie starring Jim Carry. He is serious and it's a movie that the whole family can enjoy. I don't understand the hate. People will bash any movie like hell. It's a movie people for entertainment purposes. It doesn't have to be historically accurate. The only thing it has to be is entertaining.

At any event, even though I never thought it was a great movie myself - and I'm not surprised by the good ol' critics finding it underwhelming - it is still a wonderful movie that's held up surprisingly well compared to other "recent" Oscar-bait films.

I agree with the OP totally. I saw it 14 times in the theater. My record before that was only 6. I still watch it on DVD and have it in my Amazon cloud so I can watch on my Kindle. I haven't watched it in awhile. I think I need to see it again.🙌

Just watched it for the first time and loved it. Maybe I'm a sucker for the 1950's looking America small town, but I loved Jim Carrey's performance and the great cast. It's a long movie without ever feeling long, which is weird as it's a drama. I was totally immersed into the movie.
Now I'm itching to watch Trumbo.
Trumbo's a much better film.
shareMet Martin Landau at the Chiller Theatre Expo in Parsippany NJ this past October. My wife told him he made her cry with this movie. He replied, "I'm sorry." Lol. She told him it was in a good way.
Wonderful man and we both love this movie. It just puts a smile on our faces. It is just such a throwback. Not flawless but it has so much heart. And Carrey has never been more likable.
