OT: I think I am schizophrenic, but I don't want to hand over my guns...

Lately, I have been hearing voices in my head. I don't like what they are saying. I have been thinking of seeing a doctor about this. I hear they take away your guns if you are schizophrenic. I can't give up my guns. What is a guy like me to do?

What do you think of this plot for a movie? I don't really own guns. Would this make a good plot? Let me know! Thanks.

Has everything that's happened, already happened? Should I stay exactly the same?

I have met people that really are in this predicament. They are afraid to get the help they need for their mental illness because they worry their guns will be taken from them. The fact of the matter is that the majority of people with mental illness are harmless and would never harm another person. As a mental health professional, I disagree with laws that prevent people with mental illness from owning guns. It is hard enough for people to get the help they need for their mental illness. They already feel stigmatized, and when there are laws that restrict their rights because of an illness that they can't help, they are even less likely to seek help.

Are you serious? A person who suffers from paranoia, delusions and hallucinations shouldn't own a gun. For their own protection as well as everyone else's.

It would suck if you lived in bear country. Then you become schizophrenic. You need a gun incase a bear comes around.

What exactly IS your "plot"? What you are mentioning is merely a three-line-joke (a joke that works, by the way. I think it's funny). But it certainly doesn't meet the definition of a "plot".

Please see a Psychiatrist if you haven't already and tell them what's happening.
