We really need this on DVD!

They need to release this on DVD. At least Season 1! What is the hold up? Has anyone heard any news on this?

There was more than one season???

reply

Yes. There were 3 Seasons Total.

I agree with ya'll. We should have all 3 seasons of "The Chris Isaak Show" on DVD. I have totally missed seeing Seasons 1 & 2 of it. Season 3 was pretty good. I certainly hope that it won't be very expensive when it does come out on DVD to buy. I have emailed Showtime recently asking when they will be re-airing Seasons 1 & 2 of the show. I am still waiting for a reply back from them. I would certainly hope that Best Buy or any other store would carry the DVD in stock if and when it does come out on DVD.

reply

I completely agree! Chris is from Stockton, just up the rorad from me, and I've seen him play live three times. I've also spoken with him a few times and he's a very nice guy, which comes across in this show.

I was in Borders the other day and marveled at the obscure crap from TV that makes it to DVD. This show was critically acclaimed.

It rates being on DVD and Chris's fans deserve it.

It's coming onto DVD this fall. All 3 seasons in one set.

That link didn't work. And there is nothing on CDNOW.com. Nor mally they would have a date set in advance. Is this just rumors or are the DVD's being released in the fall?

reply

I don't know why that link isn't working. All you need to do is go to sunsetrecordsgroup.com, and go to the newsroom. It's all in there.

Sunset Home Visual Entertainment will also be releasing the Emmy Nominee CHRIS ISAAK SHOW from the the Showtime cable network on DVD-but the show was a Viacom show so it would be a Paramount DVD right?

Are you sure all three are coming in a set ???? I don't care what it would cost. It's about time !! COOL....

reply

If you look it up on Amazon it says the studio isn't releasing it on DVD but if you submit your email address they count it as a vote in favor of putting it on DVD. This is the link: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00005JM68/qid=1126657139/sr=1-3/ref=sr_1_3/002-7431040-6374457?v=glance&s=dvd

"Knew him? He was delicious!"

reply

I hate Showtime and will never subscribe to them, especially after they cancelled the excellent Dead Like Me. So, I have only seen a few episodes of this, those I love Chris Isaak, and I love what I saw of the series.

I would KILL to have this on DVD, and I would totally buy it as a set of all the seasons. Is it for sure that they won't release this on DVD? I can't imagine why the wouldn't?

reply

Late last year on Amazon.com they announced a release date of Dec 31, 2005; strangely, though, at some point recently they must have retracted this announcement, because I can't find it all on the Chris Isaak Show page:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005JM68/ref=pd_bbs_null_1/104-2810904-5167165?s=dvd&v=glance&n=130

At any rate, if they're trying to commit to a release date (all three seasons in one package!), I'm hoping it will be coming out soon. Just fill out the 'Email me when the show is available to order' and you'll be the first to know when it is!

I've always speculated that the holdup was due to clearing the rights to all the songs that were used in the show that were not Chris Isaak songs. They obviously had broadcast rights but DVD sales are another story. This is all to do with music publishers who own the rights to songs, which in many cases are the record labels themselves and not the artist. They probably all want some cut from the DVD sales.

Take for instance "I'll Be There For You" by Richie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi... say they couldn't agree on terms for the DVD sales... the performance would have to be edited out of the episode. Multiply that times the number of guests and it could easily turn into a nightmare.

Click on www.tvshowsondvd.com and you can vote for this show (& many other shows) to be released on DVD. The site owners forward the requests on to the studios so they know people are interested in the shows being released on DVD. You can also look at a list of shows that have already been released on DVD that you might not know about. And I agree with a previous poster that so much crap is released on DVD but that quality shows like this one are held up for years!

reply

that is an very interesting theory, that must hold some truth. but someone should be ashamed that this original effort is barely seeing the light of day.

i miss this show, it used to be on showcase

I got to talk to Chris last night at a show in Chicago. He told me that they are trying to get the Chris Isaak show on dvd, but the problem is that all the songs by other artist are copyrighted. He said "he had even offered to do his for free". He did not give a time frame. I say edit out all the other artist songs and get this show on dvd!!

reply

Freaks & Geeks had music rights issues with their DVD release. A group called Shout! Factory finally worked with them on getting the okays on all the music & it came out. I don't know why an artist wouldn't okay it; it's like free advertising for their music.

reply

You would think.

This would be a huge seller if it came to DVD. There is an Emmy DVD of the Chris Isaak Show up for bid on Ebay. It only has 3 episodes on it but the highest bid right now is almost at $70.00 with 2 hours left in the auction. People will pay lots of money, they just want to see this show! I agree completely. Let's keep hoping that it's very soon.

It's not looking good for the DVD release. Chris played a concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London yesterday was signing merchandise afterwards. Whilst siging my CD, I asked if The Chris Isaak Show ws any nearer to coming out on DVD, to which he replied "Ooh, I think you're gonna have to bootleg that one!" I guess attempts to get legal clearance for all the songs have floundered.

reply

I just saw him last night in concert as well! (Fantastic, as expected! What a born performer.) I was hoping this was out on DVD already so I could just pick it up and watch all the eps over again (I did see most of them when originally aired). Can't wait and I've put myself on the Amazon alert for when (if?) it's released. :)

Damn! $140 for a set of bootlegs.

Better to record it yourself. Does anyone know if the show is getting airtime anywhere outside of the USA?
