I am just in complete awe of Mr. Arkins performance in this movie. I gave this a 10 mostly because of his character and his acting. you could actually edit out all of the story line besides his and make it a short about that character and how he evolves! It would be just as entertaining. I really enjoyed it!
'Is there something you could share with the rest of us Amazing Larry!?'
alans performance in this movie is extraordinary, I love this film because of alan arkin! another film with stunning acting by alan arkin, one of my favourite actors, is the heart is a lonely hunter.
others such as catch-22, freebie & the bean and glengarry glen ross being a few of my favourite alan arkin movies! he is a heavily underrated actor and was oscar-nominated in '68 for his incredibly moving performance in the heart is a lonely hunter.
I know he did win a best supporting actor oscar for little miss sunshine in 2007, but he should have won the oscar for best actor in 1968, hands down.
"I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing!"
1. "the in-laws" (with peter falk) 2. "catch-22" 3. "little murders" 4. "glengarry glen ross" 5. "the slums of beverly hills" 6. "simon" 7. "13 conversations about one thing" 8. "little miss sunshine" 9. "wait until dark" 10. "last of the red hot lovers"

Agreed. I've thought something similar about a few of his other roles. I consider his film Improper Channels to be a "B" movie and yet his performance in it is outstanding.
well, alan's was the most developed character of the film that it left everybody's character severely underdeveloped. that's why the movie seemed unbalanced. however, it's a good film.
