Hmmm... yes. The way he acts in DMC3 is pretty obnoxious. However, in terms of attitude, I do prefer the DMC dante better, but for the overall character's design and looks, I like the DMC3 Dante best.

Dante's attitude in DMC3 would have to be the most annoying in any videogame, but he looks the best in DMC3. So DMC dante's attitude with DMC3 dante's looks.

DMC1-The perfect hero

The original Dante is perfect. His clothes perfectly match the style of the game (sort of cyberpuck/goth type). His attitude isex cellent. Not too flashy, not too quiet. He's not too quick to judge an opponent before he fights them, but he won't let them think that he is afraid of them. Even when face to face with a giant spider made of molten lava, he makes it clear that he is not afriad of the beast, although his actions speak otherwise.
He is human, and has the same fears as everyone else. But he never shows it in is his speech. If don't listen to his dialgue and just watch him, he is actually very afriad of many of the things he encounters. Many times his first reaction is to back away from a new threat. But then his bravery steps in and reminds him that he has to fight. And he quickly switches into a cocky state. At this point, he's stuck in a fight-or-flight mode. He tests the waters with some witty lines, attempting to either frighten, enrage, or otherwise crack the intimidating demeanor of the foes he is faced with. Then his actions fall squarely into your hands, and at that point, the"fight" option is the only one left.

DMC2-The quiet hero
Dante in DMC2 is very quiet. Hardly as cocky as his original form, he is very conservative of what he says, but unlike Dante1, his actions are very risky. Dante1 was a big talker, and a small walker. Dante2 is a small talker, big walker. In this way, Dante2 actually comes off as more cocky and arrogant than the original Dante. He can say "I'm cooler than you" with out opening his mouth. He lets his actions speak for him; and as the phrase goes, actions speak louder than words. He jumps off skyscrapers, dives head first into museum cupolas, makes little or no effort to escape injury until the last second. He is cooler and smoother than Dante1, but loses some of his more human qualities in the process. He has become cold, distant. More a killing machine than a man. The main problem wioth this is that Dante1 ends the first game as a very human person. He smiles, he laughs, he enjoys life to higher degree than he did at the beginning of DMC1. It seems between 1 and 2, he has lost that love of life, and returned to his cold, quiet nature. He ultimately, is a shallower version of Dante1.

DMC3-The annoying hero
Dante in DMC3 is easily the most annoying of the three. Let's put aside the fact that hate almost everything about DMC3 and just take a look at Dante. His character in DMC3 is the most shallow of the three. I believe Super Mario has more depth to it than he does. He's as one dimensional as Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing. He's cocky and flashy. There is no one who is actually like this. He as human as a lamppost. No wait, that's an insult to the lamppost.
Anyway, Dante3 is a big talker, big walker. Which just makes him out to be and asswipe to everyone he meets. Then he pummels them. There is no gratification to the audience is watching him at all. With Dante1, he says he's not afraid, but the audience knows that he really is and we hope that he can muster the strength and courage to defeat his fear. Dante2, we're not really sure if Dante is afraid of the foe he faces, but he's so risky and crazy that we're not sure if he's going to make it. Plus he barely ever talks, so we have no idea what he's thinking. Dante3 trash talks like Joe Pesci, then pummels the enemy like Neo. Except he's not funny and its obvious from the start that he will win. Wenever fear for the safety of Dante3, because we hardly even know him or like him to begin with.

I got to disagree with you I liked Dante in DMC 3 he was funny and had some good dialog towards the end at least.

reply

I thought Dante from DMC3 was great.
Cool, funny, tough, but still with feelings which was noticable later in the game.

I liked DMC2 the most for looks.
I liked DMC1 dante the most for attitude.
And I liked DMC3 dante the most for style.

DMC4 dante looks like he'll be the best though! He seems to be going back to his DMC1 attitude, but with more mystery and a touch of seduction. His outfit is even COOLER than DMC2. And he seems way more stylish than DMC3 dante.

i think we can be expecting the full package in DMC4.

reply

Yeah, quiet Dante from DMC2 feels like an entirely different character, but you can tell he's still the insane stylish guy as ever, only waaay more mature and...should we say hardened? His silence can mean tons of things, and says just as much as his DMC3 trash-talking.

It's cool to see how he changes in between games. When you play from 3 to 1 to 2, you see his gradual change. Some of that can be seen in the Anime too, where he's something like Spike Spiegel from Cowboy Bebop. Tough, savage, but with a somehow deadpan sense of humor.

I haven't played DMC4 yet, but he's probably as in the Anime, going more towards a stylish, serious guy.

And regarding looks, he's cool in all of them, but i guess i DO prefer DMC2's version. (THough 4 looks really great)
