I read this on the capcom boards:
lets discuss the long awaited movie for gamers to the dmc trilogy. except if you go to google.com and go to images and then type in devil may cry movie and you scroll down it has a poster for the movie and says 'tom cruise' on the top! hes going to ruin the movie!!"

I could not find the movie poster... It is probably fan-made. I have heard nothing about a movie based on the games (nor do I think one should be made, unless it was done just right.), though there is an ominous "Devil May Cry" IMDB entry slated for 2010... But it is only for IMDBPro members... Don't know if it is a new game or a movie.
Either way, I think it should be obvious to anyone involved in the alleged movie that Tom Cruise is the worst possible choice to play Dante... He is too old (not that Tom is old, but Dante doesn't appear any older than late 20's or early 30's in the games), doesn't have the correct physicality, or even the right sense of mind (such of comedic wit and sass) to play the role.
In fact, I'm just gonna say it... there aren't many actors out there who I think could play a good Dante... there are some that have the look, but not the presense and attitude... and some who have the attitude, but not the look.
They would have to find either an unknown, or do extensive searches all over the place to find the right Dante, if they wanted to please the fans.
tom cruise isn't tall, hot or witty enough to play Dante! geez

Agreed. They should really find an unknown. That way you have a better chance of not totally pissing of fans of the DMC universe.
Of course i think the big question is not only "is this a game or a movie" but will it be set after DMC 4 which then in return be before DMC 2.
I say that because i heard in a interview that the time line for Devil May Cry is 3,1,4, and finally 2 according to the creator.
