As with the Prisoner, does the existence of a number 2 indicate a number 1?
Number 6 spent his entire stint in the Village looking for Number 1, only to recieve a very strange surprise on the final episode...

The man who would not bend simply broke. Shattered and alone, he chose a number, and christened himself Number 1.

Actually, in the episode with the black widows, they talked about there being Special Unit agencies in the other major cities. Since Chicago carries the nickname 'Second City', Special Unit 1 is probably the NY branch.

This is just stupid. The show says nothing about there being special unit agencies in other cities. The SU2 is a unit of Chicago PD not of some agency that deals with these creatures country wide. All large police departments have special units of various names that deal with specific types of crimes.

Second City is a derogatory insult for Chicago from a 1950w New Yorker magazine article, due to the fact it was built on the ashes of a previous city.

I just re-watched "The Web" to either confirm or deny your rather prickish response to seldon913. Seldon is right. Captain Page does refer to their sister agency in NYC. Doesn't necessarily require them to be federal to have task forces in other cities working primarily autonomous within their jurisdiction. While in the SU2 universe they mention Chicago is link ground zero, but it is not out of the realm to believe their are other links in other cities. Especially some of the more territorial links. As specifically mentioned in the same piece of dialog by Page about wiping out what was the New York colony that migrated to Chicago to take over the territory of the current occupying colony(the thin short haired brunettes). Plus Sean mentions at the end of the episode talking to "the guy" in NY about there being colonies in LA and Detroit. So obviously there is at least a similar unit in NY that can give Sean link intel.

Being a sister unit doesn't mean they're part of the same organization. It just means they do the same or a similar job. The CIA and former Soviet KGB were sister organizations, because they did similar jobs but obviously they were not part of a single organization.

All major US cities would be just about guaranteed to have to have similar organization to the depicted Unit 2 to deal with similar creatures in their cities, just like they all have police departments in the mundane world to deal with mundane criminals. It does doesn't mean all police departments are part of one organization because obviously they are not. Only a complete fúçkìñg moron would think that they would be. So Seldon is not right and you are an idiot.

My assessment stands, only a complete fúçkìñg moron would name the Chicago unit, unit 2, if it were part of a federal organization.

In the real world there are people whose only job is vet such things specifically so such faux pas don't occur. Because they would offend the citizens of a city like Chicago by virtue they invoke the 'second city' insult. They're generally called protocol officers or something similar in the real world.
