For anyone looking for the Rider Haggard tale you are likely to be disappointed. It starts tolerably well, that is sticks reasonably close to the book, but once Samarkand is reached (instead of East Africa) the really bad acting starts and the plot becomes flabby and uninteresting. I don't think H. Rider Haggard's name appears on the credits, which is perhaps a mercy. How can they destroy such a unique and immortal story with banal dialogue and sub-Conan antics?
A huge disappointment. Fortunately one can always go back to the book. Even the Ursula Andress/Peter Cushing effort had more integrity. 😞
