I would hope that professionals who work with people with disabilities would be knowledgeable enough to spot someone pretending.
He would never have been allowed to compete without a documented diagnosis. A person involved in that can't just show up on the day of competition, a diagnosis has to be supported and the athlete has to be deemed physically fit enough to compete.
It's a movie though, you have to suspend your disbelief a bit.
