Austin Bucks

At some point in the special, did anybody expect Austin Bucks to be a villain?

He sure did a 180 from "Isn't that cute - The kid still believes in Santa Clause" to "If you believe Grandma was run over by Santa's sleigh, then you need to find him." He went from being all greedy about the store to giving the boy a week to fins Grandma before closing the deal.

I was thinking about the DVD cover I saw on the Internet suggesting he was as much of a villain than Cousin Mel. But I see your point. I haven't thought about that scene when I first watched it because Bucks was being nice about it. Especially when compared to Mel. However, Bucks was a businessman who owned almost everything in town and was not allowed to buy the rest (namely Spankenheimer's store). Did it surprise you he wouldn't try anything illegal over this?

I completely expected him to be a turd, but I was thrilled when he turned out not to be one. "Babe, you'll look great in stripes!" LOL!!
