I only give it 5/10, so why have I watched it 5 times

Each time I watch it, after the credits, I always ask myself, why did I watch this again?

There's something to the film, I can't quite put my finger on it, which prevents me from zapping away to other boring TV late at night. There's an attractive creepiness I guess.

I certainly don't think much of Katie's acting, I do really like Bratt's acting, and Embry is just plain annoying. But the ending leaves me dead of emotion.

Some day I'll learn to zap away from this film :(

LOL :)
I don't watch again my 1-4/10... but at 5 there begins a quandary about qualities and faults :)
And then there's competition... I think it must always air with even poorer competition.
And Bratt's easy on the eyes, if I squint!

I could probably list a few movies I watch knowing they're so-so. Katie Holmes was different from Dawson's and B. Bratt looked great. I've seen it more then once too

The plot could have been stronger, but this is a very good film. Katie Holmes did very well, as did Benjamin Bratt & Zoe Daushanel.

Holmes proved she could carry a film.

This isn't a stellar film, but I've watched it a few times myself. It has some very cool scenes and I found it comforting to watch when I myself was a student working on my thesis. I liked the performances of Bratt, Hunnam, and Holmes, and particularly the sexual tension between Embry and Katie.

LOL fiatlux-1, I swear you and I watch the same movies! Every time I go on an imdb board for a lesser known film, I see posts by you :)

lol I love indie films and/or lesser known films. Aren't they awesome? They're really the best things about cinema these days.

What I find especially interesting is films that STARTED as lesser-known, very low budget movies such as "The Blair Witch Project" & "Paranormal Activity" have become enormous money makers.
All because people gave them a chance, and saw how good they truly were.
I just wish more indie films got that chance!

On a side note, look how long it took for the superb B&W indie film Carnival Of Souls to get a cult fan base!

I'm actually surprised to see so many people dislike this movie, I expected the rating to be well above a 6/10. It's not the greatest work of cinema but I was oddly intrigued by Katie Holme's performance, and her character was compelling in the sense that she appears so vulnerable but is actually quite capable of something as sinister as murder. If you dig away at her character, her abandonment as a child by her father led to her craving a co-dependent relationship with a man. But like her father, the men too try to "abandon" her and ultimately pay the price. It's actually a neat thriller

There's a few films that are like that for me, too. I keep going back to them even after thinking on the first few times that they weren't very good. It's obvious that what's going on is that I DO like them, but I'm not sure exactly why, whereas I can tell exactly what I DON'T like about the films. Sometimes what we like in a film is actually harder to pin down than what we don't. I almost always find it harder to write reviews of films I like than of ones I don't.
