[BERLIN] Scene with Muir's Cousin and the Ambassador

What was the point of this scene?

According to IMBD the girl is Muir's Cousin, they meet in Berlin at the party and he tells her to go over to the Ambassador and say "hello" to him.

And then the mole (Anne Cathcart) "Your Scotch is older than she is"

What was the point of that scene?

Did you watch the movie? She was supposed to be his third wife. That's the reason why the other wan said that the Scotch is older than her.
