Can't make out what they're saying...

Maybe it's just me, but there were several scenes in which I couldn't undertand what they were saying, especially during the scene after they won the game at Tracy's old school. I realize they are speaking quietly because they don't want Gid to hear them, but I seriously can barely make out what they are saying.

Is it just me, or do the actors kind of mumble their lines on occasion? Don't get me wrong, I love this movie a lot. I think it's brilliant, but I just wish I could understand every word. My dvd doesn't have subtitles, so I can't even check that way.

Kind of a stupid topic, I know, but did anyone else notice this while watching?

reply

Yeah, I agree, especially when they are stealing christmas trees. Ryan Gosling is easier to hear, but Eddie Spears is so inaudible that he appears to be mumbling. Probably due to poor sound. It appears that the seen was done simply with a boom or the actor was not mic-ed up properly.

reply

That is why I always turn on the Closed Caption. There is so much dialog in all movies that becomes inaudible. Try it -- you will pick up so much more.

the whole subtitle avaliability is what finally won me over to dvd from video....lol, that and of course you can jump around with ease.

reply

yeah, seems lke you're right
i'm not a native speaker, so it's even more harder for me(

reply
