1. The Bride

Who are we kidding? She's number one in the DVAS and number one on the list. She is compelling for her emotional journey, relatable for the way she struggles to get places and for her human connections (to her daughter, for example), and admirable for her god-of-death skillset. It's a shame this character isn't more recognized on best hero lists.

2. Bill

Mad, bad, and dangerous to know, Bill is enigmatic, charming, and sociopathic. He's a multi-layered character that you feel for and hate. The fact that we get so little but see so much is just great writing, but also a grade-A performance from David Carradine.

3. Budd

I've always thought Budd was the most deceptive character in the Kill Bill films. He comes off like okey trailer trash, but he's crafty. He feigns like he's out of shape and out of practice, but he comes the closest to offing the Bride out of any of the DVAS group. He says he hocked his Hanzo, but it's still there. He could be living high on world-class assassin money, but instead he's in a trailer. I always got the feeling he was in a self-imposed penance for what he did ("She deserves her revenge, and we... deserve to die...") All of these things make Budd a super-complex character and very compelling.

This was a bit of a tricky list to put together. Out of the main cast, I can't argue with your choice of Elle Driver. O-Ren could also make the cut.

Kill Bill is also filled with fun side characters who scream to be on the list. Pai Mei is a small part but is extremely memorable. Sophie is neat, in a cruel, "mean girls" sophisticate sort of way. Hattori Hanzo is really cool, funny, and sagely. Bill's "dad" is also somebody who could make the list. And, of course, you've pointed out the horrifying Gogo Yubari as memorable and worthy of contemplation.

Ultimately, I stick by my picks, but there are a LOT of great characters in the films.
