Lack of appreciation for dark comedies

Is it just me or does no one in the world, except me and my friends, enjoy dark comedies? I am forever hearing people rip on movies like 'duplex', not that it was great or anything, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. if you look at the track listing of other wonderful dark comedies, such as 'the cable guy', and 'death to smoochy', to name a few, no one seems to like these movies, but i love them, and almost any black comedy i have ever seen. is it just me????

I love dark/black comedies. And yes, no one seems to have an appreciation for them.

I'm not anti-social... I'm just not very friendly

I enjoy dark comedies as much as you do. :)

I was really disappointed in this film, but I loved Death To Smoochy, and though The Cable Guy was not really funny, it was sort of brilliant in ts own weird little way.

What I have shown you is reality. What you remember....that is the illusion.

Dark/black comedies are hilarious. I've seen the titles you mentioned. Any more really good ones?

It was dead.

Another posting mentioned Throw Momma From the Train. Going back a few years, the blackest comedy I can think of (since I'm such a romantic comedy lover first, ha ha) is War of the Roses. Both of these projects also included Danny DeVito. He seems to really enjoy the black comedies himself.

There are too many of them to name. Two of the best that I have ever seen would be Secretary, and The Last Supper.
I have not seen this movie, but if you are a fan of great acting, directing, and screenwriting, these are must sees.

Secretary is the only movie starring Miss Gyllenhall that made me want to bang her so bad... True fkg story.

It seems like people increasingly don't understand or appreciate comedies in general, not just black comedies. It seems to be due to an increase in both what I call "the realism fetish" and an increase in pc culture. Why those things have increased is harder to say, but the realism fetish might be correlated with a rise in Aspies or at least Aspie-like behavior.

At any rate, I also love black comedies, absurdist comedies and the like.

I really enjoy dark comedies as well. War Of Roses is great one I would recommend. I saw it recently and really enjoyed it.
