Can anyone tell me the song playing during...

...the scene where Marion and Tom Ince are talking on the stairs right before he gets shot? I've tried going down the soundtrack listing on imdb but no luck. The song starts just as Hearst peers down on Marion and Tom at the bottom of the stairwell.

I've heard it in other movies too but I can't identify it and it's so beautiful.

I've also tried general searches on iTunes for 20's music.

I was just watching this again the other day, I have the video tape, and I listened to that section - if is very faint background on my tape, but I think it is the same song that they plays when Charlie and Marion are playing charades.

If it is, then I also liked this song - It is called Hot Lips (He's got hot lips when he plays Jazz) I found it on a Paul Whiteman CD and purchased it through Amazon about 3 years ago. They might still have it - or with the title now you could listen and hear if it is the song you are looking for.

Like I said, it is very faint on my VHS copy, but it sort of sounds like that song to me.

Yes, that's correct. It's "Hot Lips" by Wightman. You can actually hear the radio announcer introduce it before it starts playing.

Wightman is mentioned in Lumley's voiceover at the end of the film, saying Margaret Livinston, Ince's lover, eventually retired to manage her husband, Paul Wightman, the band leader who popularized The Charleston.
