The students are suppose to be 14 years old?

All the "kids" looked 25. Would have been more "horrifying" if they were 14.

Actually most of them were closer to 14 than 25. Aki Maeda - who played Noriko - had her 15th birthday on set (DVD extras show how this was celebrated). Kawada's actor was about 25, the rest were mostly 16 I believe.

Chiaki Kuriyama who played the girl in the yellow tracksuit might very well have been 14 when the filming was going on. According to her bio she was 15, close to 16 when the movie was released. Many of the actors couldn't see the movie in theaters because they weren't old enough.

Wow, so they could be in the film and do all the stuff that gives the film its rating, but they couldn't watch it?

Most of them were teens except for a couple that were in their early twenties.

Most of the actors were 17-18 when they filmed this and no they did not look 25 except for the transfer students.
