NEW and AMBITIOUS BR RPG (WRITERS ONLY, if not a writer, need not apply)

Ok, so I've been in some RPG's in the past, but what has always bugged me is the lack of interactivity between the submissions and the writer.

I want to try something that can possibly change that, so here goes:

-10 contestants. (50/50 gender)

-1 or 2 character submission per person (if 2, must be of both genders)

-no need for bio, just character name/age (14-18) and gender

Now for the more demanding requirements.

-Must have Gmail/Google Docs

-a 4 page (double spaced) short story about your character pre-game (must be shareable via Google Doc, also, consider this your character bio)

***

Once all of the submissions are sent to me, the game will begin. If you're wondering why I would have you commit to a short story about your character in order for you to be a part of this is because of these reasons:

-look at title, that "a" word takes committment
-this isn't your daddy's Battle Royale RPG
-no one likes a *beep* ill thought-out character, if you can't think of a dynamic way to introduce your character in 3 pages then you mayt not be right for this
-lastly, turning in 3 pages means you are invested and committed

***

OK, so what are you actually going to get out of this?

After you turn in your submission, you are gonna be added to the roster. Your story will be read by me, notes will be taken (on character, not your writing abilities).

The story will begin on a grand scale, a map will be provided. Characters will be sectioned off. I will set the tone. At the end of every entry, characters (by my choosing and system [will detail later]) will be placed at specific parts of the map. The participants will then be provided with an opportunity to write a short entry about the mindset of their characters (this will be gone over a little more later). The idea here is to provide content and interactivity between myself, you, and everyone else.

Again, what makes it all work is commitment. You see, if you make it in with your character submission then at some point stop participating, rest assured, your character will not be punished. Instead, that character will just be less dimensional than the others.

Understand what I'm going for? I'm looking for people who love Battle Royale and really want to enrich themselves in the world with their abilities to commit and participate.

PM me if you are interested. Thanks for reading. Look forward to hearing from you.

To be honest, that's a very very small character roster. Most BRs - including RPGs - have around 50 characters. Only ten is pretty much the exact opposite of ambitious as far as I can see, especially as it limits you to potentially only 5 players, since most people will submit two characters. It's also very limiting in terms of scope and potential interactions, both in the backstory and the present of the game.

Good luck with it, but I'd suggest either reconsidering the "ambitious" part or expanding the character roster.

I'm Addy. Just Addy. From God, to Kane, to Addy.

It would be nice if you could show us a sample of your own writing, so that we know the sort of hands we'd be placing our characters in. Do you have something on Fanfic.net or somewhere else that we might read?

Okay, I think I'll like this. It's a different form of RPG'ing I'm used to.

I do see the point on the low number of students, or is this meant to be a special class or something?

Funny thing, I've been wanting to write a fanfic with characters made by others for a while. This thread actually inspires me to do it. Hope that's fine with doing something like this too.

"Jackie, talking is for people who actually have something in common" - Hyde, that 70's show.

Hey, maybe you're blowing up the PMs, but the lack of responsiveness on this thread isn't filling me with anticipation. On this board I poured a lot of energy into into an RP that was finally abandoned by the person running it, just as it seemed to be wrapping up.

Call it once bitten twice shy, but like many here, I'm not sitting around trying to figure what to do with all my copious free time. Convince us it's worth it. I think Dessek makes a fair call above too.
