Outlaw Star 2.

Does anyone know if OLS2 is happening? There was talk of an OAV called Outlaw Star: Sword of the Wind. And the author of Future Retro Hero Story (creator of outlaw star), said that there might be an outlaw star 2.

But all the research I've been doing has lead me to message boards and stuff where people have only heard rumours. And those message boards have not been updated for long periods of time.

As for official word, I don't think there's been official talk of OLS2 for maybe a year or longer.

But maybe someone knows something. Have any of you heard anything about it? I know that there was supposedly a novel that takes place after the end of the series. But does the official manga continue the story?

reply

I highly doubt there will be an Outlaw Star 2.
People have heard rumours, sure...but that's probably where it'll stop.
Most successful series have whispers of sequels...but they never happen.
Seeing as Outlaw Star is my favourite anime, I'd love to see a continuation happen, but I doubt it happens.

Man they left it WAY TOO open at the end of the first, and only season. I think it would be smart to release a second season just to finish the story. I read on Bandai's website a couple years ago something that basically said that it did not do well in Japan, but it did very well in other countries, i.e. the US. But because it did not do well in Japan they would probably not make a second season just for the many other countries and thousands of fans that love the series. I think that is stupid but whatever, how bout I get EXTREMELY filthy rich and pay them to do a second season?

reply

they didn't leave it too open, it was a closed story. the problem was the story was so good that it left you (royal sence) wanting more.

I *heart* Pink Floyd

thats bs. look at big o it got a second season becuase of us fans. there is talk of a flcl 2nd ova because of its us fans so it is very possiable.

reply

Big O's not that good of an example. Must I remind you of the last episode?

The creator of Outlaw Star has said he would like to do a second season on the anime. However he said all that's holding him back is the budget. Outlaw Star was a successful anime though. The creator said he's pitching new ideas for the Outlaw Star comic. If the comic does well a series will spawn.

reply

there will be no outlaw star 2, same for FLCL 2, that was a 6 ep one time deal to showcase the company etc. besides its been since 1996 and 10 year difference between when the anime was done to 2006 now is a long time to sit on a undecided sequel.
besides this was a 26 ep series and most animes are that length except for maybe ghost in the shell and full metal alchemist. and besides if OS was so popular it wouldve gotten the movie treatment and specials that cowboy bebop has gotten

well look at gits:sss it took roughly 4 to get it in the works. look at big o it took roughly 5 because it has a large fan base. hell look at eva it is geting 2 movies cournely that are a retelling of the storry. then it is also geting two new movies that contune the story from the EOE. And that will be roughtly if every thing goes right 12 or 13 years. So see its not the time but how big the fan base is. and if u would like the link and yes i can read japansse enought to know this anit bs. here it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rebuild_of_Evangelion So think what u say before u post it

All I've heard are rumors also. At least all the rumors point to it having the title: Outlaw Star: Sword of the Wind. From what I've heard, Jim is supposed to be the main character in this OVA.

At any rate, these rumors seem more sound that the sequel rumors of Cowboy Bebop that the people at tv.com post on the boards all the time. Those threads seem to pop up as often as people looking for the nonexistent revolver in Medal of Honor: European Assault.

I also heard about the second season having Jim as the main character, more than a few years back. I'm not sure how it would fare. But yes, I would watch that stuff. Delish.

hello there I come from the future, glorious and disappointing 2013. I'm afraid there is still no Outlaw Star 2 in the works. It would appear that it is in developmental limbo. Sorry. Just FYI.
