Carlo + Francesca

I know it's sad that Carlo is thinking of ending it with his longtime girlfriend for a girl he barely met, Francesca. But I couldn't help but laugh during the car scene when she asks him to a party for her friend's 18th birthday...

I don't know if this is common or acceptable in some countries, but I know that this is a definite no-go in the US. A man of almost thirty with a girl of 18? Not just that, but a girl still in high school! It's a little weird and freakish to me, but painfully funny at the same time.

i know a lot of men of 28 to 30 who are usually looking for girls of 17 and who havent accepted their reality and still behave like teenagers.

That's sad. I can understand 25 and 18. But I think that at that point that's the biggest seperation I can see. But a girl still in high school? I don't care if she is 18, that's still a little weird.

Did it seem like it was a yes-go! in the movie?
The main character was dwelling a lot about what to do next.

Anyway, don't tell me in the US just-turned-18 girls do not have affairs with men in their 30s.

I'm not saying they don't, but I'm saying that it's frowned upon by the two not in the relationship. It still is somewhat taboo. I was just asking if it is more accepted in Italy. Especially for someone still in high school. I don't know if that has a different meaning in Italy than it does here, but even if a girl is 18, if she's in high school that adds a whole new level to the stigma.

I'm Italian and I agree that it's still some kind of a taboo. It is not illegal (18 is the legal age here in Italy), but definitively it's not considered "ok" for a man in his 30s to have a relationship with a girl still in high school. I am pretty sure her parents would never agree. :)

I found their whole relationship to be unrealistic and not at all believable.

I have seen men ~ 29 years old dating women straight out of high school.
And I live in the US.
It can happen.

it is just in my opinion - imo - 🌈
