Sound was all messed up...

I really loved the soundtrack on this movie except that whenever music would play, it was so much louder than the dialogue that I felt like I had to keep adjusting the volume on my television... did anyone else have this problem?

Yes! It was really ridiculous. Good to know it wasn't just me.

Ditto...

I watched this last night for the first time (after just having attended a genuine stage production of Macbeth) and noticed the same thing...although I assumed it was the dialogue that was mixed too low!

I know, and the dvd wasn't even anamorphic.

Google Dynamic Range, movies are mixed for a certain reference volume, when played at that volume you would hear the dialogue clearly even when the music played.

The best thing i can recommend is to use headphones or a night mode on the TV or AV Receiver, these modes tend to reduce the dynamic range so you will hear it better.

It's really good for home cinema fans that they don't muck about with the soundtrack and compress it, if they did that then you might hear the dialogue clearer but the dynamic range would be affected and for anyone who has a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup then that would be bad.
