Favorite Wes Anderson films

I am a Wes Anderson fan, and I enjoy watching his repertory ensemble of actors. (I see a lot of criticism of Owen Wilson here, but I think his acting is excellent in W.A. films). Gene Hackman added a certain peppery dash to The R.T. that one doesn't see in many of W.A. films, I wish he would try it more often.

I can understand why a lot of people don't like his films, they are very un-Hollywood: quirky, with unpredictable plots and exploration of the darker side of human nature in a way that is sensitive, but ironic and somewhat detached.

I've seen all of them except Fantastic Mr.Fox and Castello Cavalcanti, which I've somehow missed, and Hotel Chevalier which is not available.

This is my personal ranking in terms of enjoying seeing them again and again:

the Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
Bottle Rocket
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Moonrise Kingdom
The Darjeeling Limited
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Squid and the Whale (the only one I don't like)

Gene Hackman should do at least one more Wes Anderson movie. I loved him as Royal.

My favorites:

Rushmore
The Royal Tennenbaums
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Moonrise Kingdom

The Squid and the Whale was Noah Baumbach not Wes Anderson.

So far it's:

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Moonrise Kingdom
the Royal Tenenbaums
Rushmore
Fantastic Mr. Fox

The last three on the list are so-so, at best. Some time this week I am watching the life aquatic for the first time.
