I'm confused!

Would someone please explain this movie to me? I do not understand how the various events tied together. What did Debra Messing's car wreck have to do with the bridge falling down? If she saw the Moth guy just before the car crash as a prediction of disaster, wasn't that a bit late? Perhaps I had to read the book. I seriously would appreciate those of you who do understand the movie explaining it to me. I guess I'm just not bright enough. By the way, why was Laura Linnley dressed in the Fargo get up? It just didn't make sense. Nothing in the movie made sense.

Obviously what I'm about to say is all my opinion, please do with it as you wish.

I always took Mary Klein's vision of Mothman and subsequent wreck as a reason to get her into the hospital for treatment of her unknown ailment. At the time, both John and Mary were ignorant of her illness. Without that wreck, she may not have made it to the hospital at all and might have died in her sleep. Of course she died anyway, but at least she was given the slimmest of chances to survive after receiving some treatment and A WARNING.

That's the key...the warning. The pictures she drew of Mothman in a way forced John to stay in PPWV and help Fargo flush out the sightings/warnings of Mothman, including the bridge catastrophe. As the author stated to Klein (paraphrase), you can choose to listen to the warnings and basically lose your mind trying to save people or you can try to live your life.

Like I said, it's just my interpretation, hope it helps.

Thank you! I guess the hard part is knowing which experiences and encounters are warnings, because we cannot respond to everything as if it were. The only way I know something was a warning is after it happened! Then I can look back and say, "Oh, I guess I was warned of that!" Oh well, I guess its all called Life. Thanks for answering.

You can always look to learn from your "warnings" I think we all have intuition, but very few of us follow what our intuition tell us.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

Thanks for your thoughts. As I read your response, I am reminded of a great book that you may have run across. Its called, "The gift of fear", and it is a fascinating story by a man who was the bodyguard of several prominent people. I only knew about the book from hearing it promoted on the Oprah Winfrey Show a long time ago. This theme of this book, I'm sorry I don't remember his name, is if we listen to our intuition, if we respect the fear that our intuition gave rise to, even if we don't know what we're afraid of, it could save our lives.

I certainly agree with what you say about most people not listening to their inner voice. After reading this book and its examples of why it is so important in life and death situations, I became more attentive to my own intuition.

Thanks for your response.
