Well the song through the closing credits was truly unique. As a fan of Indian cinema, I hadnt and still havent heard anything like it.

But A.R. Rahman does excellent work. He did the music for the musical Bombay Dreams.

other works of his which you might like are Swades (2004), Lagaan (2001), Dil Se (1998), Meenaxi (2004), Bombay (1995), Earth (1998 I think), Taal (1999), Zubeidaa (2001), Legand of Bhagat Singh (2002), Saathiya (2002).

there is also a slightly techno one called Yuva (2004).

If you want to listen to them online, go to either musicindiaonline.com or dishant.com and look up these titles, or just search for AR Rahman.

There's some other musicians, but generally they dont meet the same standard.

yup...a r rahman is defintely the best. personally my favourite is this track called fanaa from yuva (it is kinda techno), but pretty much everything by this guy rocks. you could also check out the soundtracks from the movies dhoom, naach and kaal...they're all on musicindiaonline.com, search for hindi movie titles.

i'm more into the songs on the album like:

fuse box
banished
good indian girls

all these songs are by a film composer called Mychael Danna. he's done loads of films, but i'm looking more for music which is like what he composed for monsoon wedding.

Can anyone tell me the name of the song in the scene where Ayesha is dancing (the dance she was supposed to do with Varun)?
Thanks.

'Chunari Chunari', by the way is not by Michael Danna. It's by Anu Malik- the most commercial- (hence the inclusion of this song- you must see some real Indian weddings to get into this mood) and my least favourite music director, though the way M. Nair used it in Monsoon is excellent. You could certainly try AR Rahman, Bikram Ghosh, Abhijeet Pohankar for good modern Indian songs- unless you prefer MS Subhalakshmi or RD Burman(ExCeLlEnT!)

yeah...Chunari Chunari is originally from the film Biwi #1, which I personally haven't watched. Salman Khan isnt' really my cup of tea.

I totally agree with the comment about Rhaman. I was in england a couple of years ago after Bombay Dreams first opened and I have to say that all the music from the show was fantastic. I was a big fan of the second act's opening number "Chaiyya Chaiyya". After some searching I found a very cool rendiiton of it by DJ Karma that I highly reccomend. Enjoy the Bhangra Beatz!
