ok, I'm in a German II high school class, but what the hell does this mean? "Lies have short legs"?

I guess I'm just hoping some German person who loves Paul Giamatti will see this so I can get some closure.

I thin kits a German saying. Lies have short legs. Like, "lies don't last long", you know. Like they have weak legs. Won't stay up.

That's correct. If someone says to you "Lügen haben kurze Beine" he means something like "you better not lie to me, i'll find out the truth eventually."

Totally right. That's like in Pinocchio who gets a long nose when he lies :-D.
