Has there ever been a more stunning actress in a movie?

I was watching The Girl Next Door again the other night for the first time in a few years. I thought Elisha Cuthbert looked gorgeous the first time I watched it, but I believed after a few years I would have found her looks more common. I couldn't have been more wrong. She blew me away even more with her beauty in this film. How could this be?

It got me wondering. What other actresses fall into this category for people? What other women in a movie have totally blown people away by their beauty?

Now, I'm not talking about how an actress looks now, or before or how they have changed. For instance, I put Grace Kelly in Rear Window on my list. I'm talking about how she looked at the time the movie was made.

And I don't care how they even looked outside of celluloid. For instance, I have never thought of Meg Ryan as stunning. Cute, yes, but not stunning. But Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally is a vision.

So who would you put on your list?

I agree with you, Elisha Cuthbert is absolutely stunning in this film. The fact that the rest of the film is so mediocre probably only serves to highlight this.

Other actresses that have me gaping at the screen are:

Denise Richards in Wild Things
Salma Hayek in From Dusk Til Dawn and Desperado

Also, in a slightly different way, anything at all with Audrey Hepburn in it. Physically a bit waif-like, but that face...

reply

Bloom, I totally agree with you on Audrey Hepburn. I was thinking that too. Maybe the winner of the most beautiful woman for a career. My problem is that I couldn't come up with the one perfect movie.

Cuthbert is so amazingly beautiful.

Only thing I can offer to compare would be Katheryn Winnick (in just about anything, but I first saw her in Satan's Little Helper).

Wait a minute... who am I here?

reply

Wow, good call Doom. I've never heard of her before. Wow, what a beauty. And a Canadian too, no less.

"And a Canadian too, no less."

what does THAT mean...

Both Elisha Cuthbert and Katheryn Winnick are Canadian (or at least they're both born in Canada).

I have a thing for Anne Hathaway. She's pretty stunning in Havoc. I still need to see get Smart.

Should also check out Love and Other Drugs.....she's a babe in that.

reply

Agreed very much.

And also TDKR.

reply

yea man she is so sexy! hahahahah she is amazing

reply

She steals the show in this movie. When I first saw this int theaters, I couldn't take my eyes off her.

In fact, I don't even know if I would like it as much as I did if she wasn't in it. She totally made the movie.

Cameron Diaz in "The Mask" had a similar effect on me at least. But just in that movie, non of her other movies came even close.

Megan Fox in transformers

Jordan Brewster in fast and the furious

Shannon Elizabeth in american pie

Those are girls, not women. You

Elisha Cuthbert is amazingly stunning in this movie. Not when she is dressed up in the porn gear and make up, but when she's casual and properly dressy up. Its unbelievable how gorgeous she is. I have seen the film so many times and only to watch her

RIP: Peter Osgood and Ronnie Barker

Cuthbert's physical assets were completely torn down by her utter lack of acting and presence. Plenty of other examples of eye candy available that don't involve me wishing I had sharp sticks for my eyes.

I felt the same about Cuthbert in Girl Next Door, and it reminded me of Andrea Roth when she was in Crossworlds with Rutger Hauer (sp?).

She was striking, and had an interesting part, as well.

Going waaaaaaay back, how about Jane Seymour in Time after time?

reply

Well I agree with the Megan Fox view, as that whole car fixing scene in Transformers is just stupidly good to watch.
Also was going to mention Cameron Diaz in the Mask, but someone beat me to that. Her entrance scene is great, its weird how she seems so run of the mill in other movies.

Elisha Cuthbert in this movie is the epitome of a male fantasy ideal.

i dont know how much of it is down to make-up, effects, body-doubles, cheesy script, wildly unrealistic scenarios, [un?]-supporting cast or whatever else. it doesnt matter really does it? we wont get tired of watching :)

reply

Wow, that's cool - I agree completely about Grace Kelly in Rear Window. As famous and showered with accolades as it is, her appearance was the aspect of the film that was most resonant for me, and I'm a big Hitchcock fan. I remember thinking that I now knew without a doubt who I considered the most stunningly gorgeous female ever. I guess I wasn't the only one.

Guys - you forgot the best of them all. Ingrid Bergman in Casablanca!

Megan Fox in Transformers was stunning! For some reason i dont think she looks as good now...

Elisha Cuthbert is amazingly attractive in this film though!

My only other one is Natalie Portman in Mr Magoriums Wonderful Emporium! I thought she was stunning in this!!

reply

couldn't agree more with his point. she is absolutely stunning in this movie. I cannot get over the look she gives Matt when they first see each other in the beginning of the movie. The whole film she dominates the screen and I could not take my eyes off of her. She is flirtatious, innocent and stunning all in one.
