Why so underrated ?

I watched this movie recently and loved it a lot. It was so sweet and loving movie..... but its rating at IMDb is just 6.8 .... seriouly folks? Why so less? should have been somewhere at 8.0 or above...... i have not been thinking so much about any other movie..
even in the youtube and fb comments, i have found people praising it (especially for the songs and ofcourse the GIRLnextdoor-ELISHA CUTHBERT)
not fair imdb 😞

You have to understand that very few films get high ratings on IMDB. Only 4 films make to tge 9.0 rating just so you have an idea

i thought it was a pretty good film.. not the BEST movie of all time obviously but like high 7s range for sure

6.8 on imdb is pretty high for a teen sex comedy from that era.

I love it and think it should be higher but still.

Just rewatched this earlier today for the first time in a decade. It’s a lot more boring than I remember. Elisha is pure eye candy, but she can’t carry the movie alone. The film can be pretty cheesy at times and the overly obtuse actions of high schoolers here seems more suited to college. Also there’s no way high schoolers would be permitted at an AVN Convention or expo.

5.5/10

Agreed. I love this movie very much. 8/10 for me. 👍👍

Is it underrated? 6.7 seems pretty fair for IMDB.

Cuthbert is insanely hot, Hirsch is a likeable lead, the music choices are great, plenty of comedy ‘rice boy!’, ‘ass-bag!’

The absurd premise of a pornstar showing any interest in a high school kid just about squeezes through.

Yeah, the whole porn star thing killed this movie, and the stupid ending sealed the deal. This film is kind of a missed opportunity. It was funny, Cuthbert was truly beautiful, the three dorks were likeable, and the pornstar manager was awesome! What a complete d!ckhead! If only it had a better and more believable script.

The good qualities keep the rest of it afloat. I’m happy to have this in my collection.

The Porn star thing didn't kill it for me, I think the two final acts of the film just ruin the great opening 40 minutes of the film imo. I would have got rid of Timothy Olyphant's manager and whole Danielle going back to porn arc, Olyphant is always great and nothing agasint his performance in this. But once Danielle's secret is out it just loses steam for me. And I feel the romance between Danielle and Matthew is way too rushed. Agreed the ending sucks too and whole they make a porn film themselves is stupid.

If the Director/Writer Luke Greenfield could have expanded that first 40 minutes out to first two acts of the film and put bit more heart and less slapstick/sex humour in it. I think this film could have been a lot better for it. I'm fine with the whole "oh she's a ex porn star" stuff, I would have taken it a bit more serious then the film does. I would have slowly build up their friendship to romance a bit more slower and then would have had them had a bit more time together as a couple before the reveal of her past comes out. I think the ending of him taking her to the prom is great (I would have got rid of her friends going with his two friends though) and I would have ended it there.

I think 6.7 is about right for the film, I'd have gone 6.3 with it myself. Elisha Cuthbert is likeable enough in the main role. Funny seen Paul Dano is this type of role as he's such a serious actor these days. Also Olivia Wilde, actually I would have liked to seen her take a swing at this material and make it feel more like her debut film as director, Booksmart. Emile Hirsch is very good. And even though I'm not a fan of his part of the film even Timothy Olyphant. It's just a film I think could have been a lot better.
