Would make a good TV series
Reminds me a little of Alien Nation. Too bad they didn't make it a series...

It looks like True Blood contains a lot of the same ideas as this film did. The first Sookie Stackhouse novel was not published until 2001, which was the year this film was released, and the Sookie Stackhouse novels are what True Blood is based upon.
shareIt seemed to me that this film used a lot of ideas from the excellent U.K. series "Ultraviolet," which was released in 1998.
"Ultraviolet" was the first modern take on vampires that I've seen, right down to guns used by the vampire police, the special bullets (carbon rather than silver in "Ultraviolet"), the religion-free backstory and the morally ambiguous battle between pretty bad vampires and an equally evil State.
