Bokeem Woodbine

Am I the only one who thought this was a great Orwellian/vamp movie but that Bokeem Woodbine was a TERRIBLE casting choice? I mean honestly does EVERY sentence he say absolutley have to contain a poorly delivered swear word? In my opinion they should have killed off Woodbine in the beginning instead of Reed Diamond.

You are so totally right.
That guy sucks big time.
He cannot act and all he says comes out all wrong.
totally unbelievable.
If you look around the guy this movie is pretty good.

reply

I disagree, woodbine brought a very hard and gritty edge to this film.

reply

It was the type of character he was playing. A swearing hard ass detective. Now hes not the best actor in the world but he can play some decent roles.

reply

He definitely called this one in.

reply

I'm going to be honest, he's the reason I didn't even get halfway through the film. I hated his character. And, I just don't like the actor either. I saw him in Blade the series, and, he sucked there, too.

I mean it is bad. Ya know. Like bad as in bad. Like, I'm bad, Jamal, you know it. -Elvira, M.O.T.D.

Bokeem Woodbine is awesome! He cracks me up. If he wasn't in it delivering those lines like he did I would have stopped watching this. Instead, I thought it was pretty decent.

A hard gritty edge? Where? Look the fact was that his delivery sucked, I mean, who can't pull off swearing? His pacing was off his delivery was flat and unemotional and when he did show emotion it was over the top and off pace. If I had the equipment I'd do a re-edit and take him out, it would rule then :D

I absolutely agree, poet. Wokeem would be ok in a no-brainer like bad boys or something equally 'high-octane', but he's bad bad bad in this. kind of like a low-budget, crappier version of Will Smith. ugh.

reply

LOL, he's nothing like Will Smith. Bad comparison.

Oh, I know!!
He was god-awful, I actually had to watch this dvd in a few sittings because watching him ruin an otherwise good movie, despite some bad special effects, was just so painful I had to stop watching and leave the room.

Every time he said "Got'damn!" with a Napoleon Dynamite-esque cock of his head I wasn't sure whether to laugh of cry. They should do a remake and pay closer attention to the actors they cast and be more careful of whoever is in charge of special effects. Other than that, this movie is so cool.

Going to have to agree, just watched this on fearnet on demand, and it was a chore watching the film because of him. He is just a terrible actor. I saw him in Sniper 2 as well..wasn't to good in that either.

The film is not bad, really could have been pretty good if not for Woodbine.

reply

He was disastrous, probably the worst performance I've seen in a "modern" vampire film... no wait, Corey Sevier has that one. Well, it's the second worst.

reply

I'm almost afraid to ask but what movie was he in?

Would you ever really want to see an angel? - Thomas Daggett

reply

Well. to his credit, he was pretty damn good in Fargo season 2. One of my favorite characters. I think time and the right role/dialogue can benefit every actor.
